Well, it happened. There was just no stopping it. 40 has now come and gone. Isn’t it funny how something looms over you for months, then it happens…this calm comes over you, and you know you are going to be OK?
This past weekend Mark and I decided to get out of dodge to celebrate my birthday, and ended up going back to New Jersey to pick up my car. Adulting is hard. To make the most of it, we booked a hotel on the beach in Cape May and ended up having a fantastic time. This 40-year old isn’t complaining. Continue reading
This past Sunday rolled around rainy and dreary, and since I recently cancelled cable, there was literally nothing to watch on TV. We faced an afternoon of cleaning the house if we didn’t do something quick! The horror.
As per the usual, Mark was scrolling on Instagram, and he saw that Little Fish Brewing in Athens, Ohio was having “Kids Day” that very afternoon. Our motto is, if we can get to a brewery and the kids can have a good time in the process, it’s a win-win.
For Christmas I got my husband the best gift ever. I hooked him up with a snowboard trip to Jackson Hole with some of his friends and he left this weekend. Thursday night we were talking about the hotel he booked in Cincinnati since his flight left so early Saturday morning and he suggested the kids and I meet there on Friday afternoon. Perfect quick trip to spend some time with him and also take the kids to do something fun.
We ended up meeting at Rhinegeist Brewery in an area of Cinci called Over the Rhine. The kids love it there since they have ping pong and soft pretzels. We hung out there a while and then went to have dinner. Be sure to check out my Untapped check-ins…I tried several new brews I had never had before, and also picked up some to bring home. I was lucky to be able to leave work early on Friday, hop into the car with some friends and head to the mountains for the weekend. The second week in February, the West Virginia Mountain Trail Runners put on a free run appropriately named the “Pub Run”. If you are in or around WV, and you would like to get into trail running, or you already do it, You are not alone! This active group organizes a bunch of challenging races for anyone who prefers the trails to road.
The run begins and ends in Davis, WV at Mountain State Brewery. We rented a big house for our group in Canaan Valley, but we made a couple pit stops on our way to the cabin.
